Mold steel can be divided into the following categories according to its production process and purpose:

‌Cold working die steel‌: used to manufacture molds for pressing and forming workpieces in a cold state, such as cold punching dies, cold stamping dies, cold drawing dies, etc. Cold working die steel usually has high hardness, high strength and excellent wear resistance, while ensuring sufficient toughness‌.
‌Hot working die steel‌: used to manufacture molds for pressure processing under high temperature conditions, such as hot forging dies, hot extrusion dies, etc. Hot working die steel usually contains higher carbon and alloy elements, such as chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, etc., to improve its heat resistance and wear resistance‌.
‌Plastic mold steel‌: used to manufacture plastic molding molds. Depending on the type of plastic and the requirements of the product, there are also many types of plastic mold steel, such as carbon structural steel, carburized plastic mold steel, pre-hardened plastic mold steel, etc.‌
